The narration is not as good as in previous books.
I loved the 1st two books of this series and then started this one and realized, I am not feeling it. Then I rechecked and saw this book is narrated by a different narrator. I tried some more but couldn't like the narration so I bought the ebook and loved it.

addictive series
Now that I'm done with the third book, like an addict, I'm looking high and low for credits to buy the fourth.
This book brings back the residents of the Fair Haven into another adventure that takes it's own twists and turns. For those who've heard the earlier books, you'll miss the voices and characters created by Lesley Manville. Fiona Shaw is an accomplished artist, but you need to break the mold to allow for the new voice and that was difficult.
Writing is weak is quite a few spots, one can see that Richard has taken the easy way out and a few chapters are quite abrupt. The developments and tension is not evenly paced everywhere.
But overall, it's quite breezy and makes you now want to see the characters being brought to life on screen soon. wonder what Spielberg or others touted to develop the scripts are planning to do. Can't wait.

Another brilliant addition to the series
This is quickly becoming my favourite series but I have to remind myself there's only one more book available to read to I'll take it slow. But thoroughly enjoyable & funny, not to forget intriguing story. Highly recommended!

My God Richard Osman can write.
first things first. The narrator is good. I thought wouldn't like the narrator, but after a while you dont even notice the difference. She is as good as Lesley Manville, so dont let the change in narrator put you off.
This is as good as it gets. Finished listening to all the three books till now in the series, and the books keep getting better and better.

Good. Narration could have been better.
At first, I regretted buying this audiobook just because for the performance. No offense to Fiona Shaw, but the bar was set high by Leslie Manville. Fiona's narration is like reading to oneself and not narrating. There is a vast difference. Sometimes her tone is so low, that it is like whisper; especially when reading Joyce's journal. But, as the chapters went on, I kind of got used to this. As for the story, again the expectation was set high because of the prequels. Humor is good, subtle. Pauline's involvement in this case is (sort of) unexpected. It was very easy to figure out Elizabeht's plan for Viktor. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Can't wailt for book 4.
